Perhaps one of the newest members to join the fine line up or RebelBoard Surfboards is Envision Surfboards of Newport, OR.

Designer/shaper/owner – Ralph Meier brings three new exciting offerings to the Rebel Team. The 9’1” Bonzer longboard, the 7’6” Bonzer funboard and 6’2” Fly. Backed by three decades of shaping experience and even more of surfing, these innovative boards are designed to appeal to a large range of surfing styles. Read on and see which one fits you.

No discussion of the Bonzer can begin without the mention of the inventors. Duncan and Malcolm Campbell developed the first Bonzers during the shortboard revolution of the late 60’ and early 70’s. Their three fin design became the foundation for dominant shortboard shapes, such as the Thruster, that can be seen under the arms of surfers around the world. Now, on to the 9’1” and 7’6” Bonzers.

The 9’1” and 7’6” Bonzer are a result of countless hours of research into bottom contours, fin design, rail configuration, and rocker to come up with a combination that works. The 9’1” Bonzer longboards is a five fin design that has a carefully contoured bottom, which produces lift and increases overall speed, due to the Venturi effect. The 9’1” platform allows the float and early wave entry desired by longboard riders. This overall design allows the rider to “pump and push” it to create more of a shortboard feel or simply to cruise in a variety of wave conditions. This one provides a great surfing experience for surfers of all levels.

The 7’6” Bonzer incorporates the same great features as the 9’1”. Like its big brother, the 7’6” is a careful marriage of rocker, rail, bottom, contour and placements of its five fins to deliver a high level of performance in a more compact package. A must have for the surfer who prefers the funboard’s size and shape.

The Fly is an entirely different breed. This design incorporates the best features of both Quad and Bonzer to produce a six fin shortboard hybrid. At first glance, due to its wider outer shape, the Fly resembles the late model twin fin. This one is quick! Like a fly on the wall, the positive tracking of the board is unmatched. Comments about its speed and maneuverability have caused local demand to exceed supply.

Until now, these boards have been only available to the local crowd of Newport and surrounding Oregon coastal towns. However, thanks to the resources of Rebel surfboards, these three can be faithfully reproduced and will available on a much grander scale. So why choose Envision? Put simply- by the local crowd, contest riders, and this author, who has tested two high performance models – they work!
